What does an audit actually do?

Spendrein scans the bank or card statement you upload, identifies recurring subscription charges, and ranks them by category — keep, review, downgrade, consolidate, or cancel. The first audit is free on every account.

Which file formats are supported?

CSV exports from most banks, PDF statements, and MT940 files. If a specific bank’s export isn’t parsing cleanly, send a sample to support and we’ll add it to the importers we test against.

How long does an audit take?

Usually under a minute. If it’s still running after five, refresh the audit page — the result will be there if processing finished in the background. If it isn’t, contact support.

Why do I see fewer subscriptions than I expected?

On the free tier the audit teaser shows the first few subscriptions; upgrading to Operator reveals the full list and unlocks ongoing monitoring, re-scan reminders, and cancellation emails.

Can I add a subscription manually?

Yes — the subscriptions page has an “Add subscription” affordance for entries the audit didn’t catch (e.g. ones that come out of a different account).

How do reminders and re-scans work?

On Operator and above, Spendrein re-scans your linked statements on a recurring schedule and emails you when a subscription renews, changes price, or shows up as a new charge. You can adjust which categories of email you receive in Settings → Security → Notifications.

How do I cancel a subscription through Spendrein?

From the subscription row, choose “Mark as cancelled” to update the subscription status in Spendrein. This does not contact the vendor automatically; it only records the cancellation in your workspace and flags future charges from that merchant.

What plan do I need to track contracts?

Contracts are an Operator and Business feature. They cover commercial agreements (leases, vendor contracts, insurance, SaaS) with structured renewal-window reminders.

How do I add a contract?

Three options: type the details in manually, upload the PDF and let us extract the dates and amounts, or forward the contract email to your personal Spendrein inbound address. The address is shown in Settings → Workspace → Contracts inbound email.

When will I get reminders?

Every contract triggers reminders 30, 14, 7, and 1 day before its notice window closes. You can snooze individual offsets per contract without losing the others.

How do I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel my plan?

Open Settings → Billing. Plan changes go through Stripe Checkout (for upgrades) or your customer portal (for downgrades and cancellations). Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then.

Will I be charged when my free trial ends?

Spendrein does not auto-enroll free users into a paid plan. You stay on the free tier until you explicitly upgrade.

Where can I download invoices and receipts?

Settings → Billing lists every invoice on file. Each one links to a downloadable PDF receipt directly from Stripe.

What is a workspace?

Every account starts with a personal workspace that holds all of your audits, subscriptions, contracts, and notifications. On the Business plan you can promote it to a team workspace and invite Admins, Members, and Viewers.

How many seats does a team workspace include?

Business workspaces start with 10 seats. Owner, Admin, Member, and Viewer roles all count against the seat limit, and pending invitations count too — they don’t free up until they’re accepted or revoked.

What happens if billing fails on a team workspace?

The workspace enters a 14-day grace period during which non-Owners see a read-only view. After grace, only the Owner can read, export, or delete the workspace for 30 days. After that the workspace is soft-deleted and scheduled for hard-delete in 30 more days — the Owner can restore at any point in that window.

Can I export everything you store about me?

Yes — Settings → Security → “Download your data” returns a JSON export of every audit, subscription, contract, payment, and activity record on your account.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Security has a “Delete account” affordance in the danger zone. We’ll confirm before anything is removed, and you can download an export first.

Using Spendrein with MCP

Where are the MCP setup instructions?

The dedicated MCP setup guide explains how to issue a credential, connect Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP client, and troubleshoot common errors.

What can my assistant do through Spendrein?

It can query audits and look up vendor benchmarks on every plan. Paid plans can also trigger cancellation and negotiation workflows from chat.
